On May 21, 2021, YLP’s 7th edition was finally virtually launched!
More than 800 participants from all over Lebanon met up in this launching of YLP7. YLP Regional administration and team, YLP Alumni, YLP Partners, and YLP Newcomers all gathered to witness this event!
Mrs. Celine Moyroud, Resident representative at UNDP Lebanon gave an opening speech, welcoming the YLPers into their new journey and telling them all about the skills and knowledge they will be gaining from this program.
In addition, some of the YLP Alumni were more than excited to share their experience with the participants and told them all about their success stories and how they had come a long way thanks to this program. They talked about how their dreams and hopes became a reality through the trainings and how the YLP Community played a huge role in empowering them and became a supportive family that still encourages them in their every step!
And to give a full picture to the participants about the program, YLP Partners DOT Lebanon, ETI Vision, INJAZ Lebanon, and Riyada for Social Innovation each shared their perception and take on YLP and how they will be tackling various topics and offering the participants a lot of new skills and knowledge. The partners further talked about their united goal and mission, which is to empower the youth to create sustainable development ideas and projects and help them implement these projects so they would better serve their communities.
The YLPers had a general overview of this year’s timeline and schedule, a quick introduction about UNDP and YLP’s goals , and of course the SDGs! Everyone was very excited and we could feel the youth’s contagious vibrant energy through the screens; they were so ready to become the next change-makers! Despite the electricity shortages and lack of internet connection, the participants were still able to make it to the virtual opening event with very high spirits, excited to learn more about the program and enthusiastic about starting their own initiatives to tend to their communities’ needs !
