After 2 years of staying behind the screens, YLP Lebanon finally got the chance to create an amazing event for their ambitious YLPers to get together, exhibit their innovative projects, and pitch them to the YLP jury.
The event took place on November 19, 2021 in the presence of the UNDP Lebanon Resident Representative, Celine Moyroud, our YLP Partners: Injaz Lebanon, DOT Lebanon, Riyada for Social Innovation and ETI in addition to YLP alumni, advisory board members. 4 jury members were also invited to the event: Mrs. Asmahan El Zein, Dr. Hassan Younes, Mr. Kristof Kleemaan, and Mrs. Marina LoGuidice.
The event was completely inspired by the SDGs and the Global Goals, everywhere you went you would see all the colors of the SDGs and the YLPers so attached and dedicated to achieving them! After 5 months of hard work and intensive training, our young leaders amazed us with their wonderful projects and their strong drive and ambition. We could feel the positive vibes from our change makers’ smiles and laughter. All the attendees were so thrilled to be surrounded by such wonderful energy and the whole place was just flooding with joy. It was very heartwarming to be in a place where there was nothing but hope and willingness to fight for change and instill peace in our community.
33 teams were selected to participate in this event and pitch their sustainable development projects to the jury. The projects were based upon the SDGs that varied from eradicating poverty, to achieving gender equality, to act against climate change, and many more. The YLPers were all set to become social entrepreneurs and tend to the needs of their communities by creating impactful and sustainable projects. They were even given the opportunity to exhibit their projects to all the attendees, who wanted to fully encourage them by purchasing their products. It was a great opportunity to network and benefit from everyone that was present.
By the end of the pitching event, 10 teams were selected to take part in the YLP7 Regional Event and meet with other Arab Youth change-makers of the YLP. All the participants had greatly benefitted from the event as they had gained many skills, met with new people, and were very inspired by the amount of creativity and ambition present in one single space.
