The Youth Leadership Programme, in partnership with UN Women, held its regional launch event in Beirut, Lebanon from 28 – 31 March 2019.
The regional workshop brought together around 80 representatives of youth-serving organizations and YLP partners from across 11 Arab countries: Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia.
Together, throughout the four days, they discussed challenges preventing youth from civic and policy engagement, explored the issues and challenges of Ending Violence Against Women and the Gender Justice in the region, exchanged knowledge and experience to build their understanding of youth-related issues and agreed on action plans they will carry out on national level.
This spirit of collaboration reflected the opening remarks by Celine Moyroud, Resident Representative of UNDP Lebanon, as she said: “In YLP, no matter what issue it is, environment protection or human rights, it’s about learning – together, from each other, about each other, coming together with ideas and maturing these ideas to implementation- it’s about the network, the connection.”
